Buckner Cares

Growing and Giving

On May 18th, 2016, Buckner rolled out Buckner Cares, a charity initiative dedicated to giving back to the community.

At the company-wide announcement, chief executive officer Terry Buckner said “2015 was a banner year for us. We grew by 21% and it is great to see the company grow. With growth comes responsibility. We have the responsibility to give back to our communities.”

Challenges Close to Home

Buckner and their partner EMI donated funds for a wheelchair ramp to help Shelly Gallegos, an employee whose family has faced several major challenges. With help from People Builders Utah, a non-profit dedicated to providing wheelchair ramps for local families, volunteers from Buckner constructed a wheelchair ramp for Shelly Gallegos’ daughter Whittney. She was paralyzed when a drunk driver struck her car more than ten years prior.

When the Buckner Management Team learned Whittney and her family had only a temporary (and very hard to use) ramp, they knew they had to help.

Coming Together

A fund for physical therapy was also established when colleagues at Buckner learned that Gallegos’ daughter Whittney had to discontinue therapy as funds ran out.

So far, Buckner employees have raised 3,000 dollars and partnered with Neuroworx to get Whittney 28 therapy sessions. Donations were also received from Principal, Premier Access, SelectHealth and New American Funding.
