Life Lessons from Hollywood and Beyond
Colin Egglesfield never thought an artistic career path was realistic. He always made room for creativity, but it was never his life’s focus. A chance encounter with an acting class before committing to medical school made Colin realize that an artistic career was possible. The path wasn’t easy. Breaking into Hollywood can be quite a challenge. On top of that, he was diagnosed with cancer, not once, but twice. Colin shares lessons he learned from his struggles to make a career in Hollywood, finding courage and support through personal health battles and tragedies.
His inspiring message encourages others that they too can overcome their personal challenges and adversity in pursuit of what matters to them as well. His love for motivational speaking also keeps him active sharing his message of inspiration and practical insight to corporations, educational institutions and charities.

Utilizing Peer Support Teams to Change Environmental Culture
Prior to his fire service, Michael Fox served in the United States Navy and graduated from the University of Utah. Michael has been with the SLC FD for 22 years serving as Fire Fighter paramedic, heavy rescue technician prior, and Captain. As a Captain, Michael worked on the heavy rescue team until being promoted to Battalion Chief where he served as the Medical Division Chief. He currently serves as the Assistant Chief over Operations. In addition to the Fire Department, Michael was a FEMA rescue team member on UT-TF1 with deployments to New York for 9-11 and Hurricane Katrina.
Michael was critical in creating the SLC FD Peer Support Team – a program that focuses on mental health within fire service. At the time the program was started, mental health wasn’t really talked about in the fire service. Traditionally, First Responders were told to just ‘do your job’ and did not speak out if they were mentally struggling. After suffering a number of suicides both locally and across the country, local and national support programs were created. Our program originally started with no budget and was reliant on the good will of outside professionals and volunteers. Today, our program has been functioning for almost 10 years and focuses on changing the culture around speaking about mental health.
